It was quite an exciting and somewhat thrilling sense to be onboard on the Turkish Airlines airplane to Nairobi for materializing our dream about a SAFARI in Africa. We had boarded the airplane at around 11.30 a.m. to be in Nairobi nearly 4.00 am in the morning. The most secure hours of the city 🙂 but for seeing vistas like those down here it was not so important what the hour was or how much the city was secure. But nevertheless after having our cell phone snatched in CAMBODIA in 2017 and knowing that the presedential election in Kenya was on the day we arrived, it was a great challenge for us to be in AFRICA. But after taking all the risks of being in Africa now we think it s something that musn’t be missed because of security concerns. Because if you can take into account not all but as much things as you can everything’s gonna be ok. In fact it is all about choosing the right operator, the right people for you on Trip Advisor,as long as you are with the right guys it will be a great experience for you that you will remember most probably until the end of your life… So nothing is more important than the operator you hired in Africa to make the Safari safe, comfortable and enjoyable. And never forget your pills and good repellents against mosquitos during your Kenya trip…

Feels like you are in a NATIONAL GEOGRAPHY documentary

National Museum of Kenya and Rotschild’s Giraffe Center

Nairobi National Museum

The first day in Kenya was for the National Museum to see the Kenyan culture and the nature of Kenya, Karen Blixen House and after that Rothschild’s Giraffe center to feed the giraffes with our own hands (in fact only with my hands as my wife was quite afraid of them licking your hands while feeding) 🙂 but even though we were hesitant to go there or not after being there we were really happy to be with the giraffes. (By the way YES, those giraffes are named after Walter ROTHSCHILD  who is a member of that famous family. He was the first person to define those giraffes to zoology and he was a big banker as you can guess…)

I dont seem to feel secure at all even though the guide of the museum told me it s quite slow to bite but it s better to be cautious 🙂

We knew that Nairobi would be cool but it was quite cold in July, it was winter for them and they were quite right :). Almost each Kenyan wore winter hat and coats. The good thing about the cold weather in Nairobi was the absence of the mosquitos. Despite there is no risk of Malaria in Nairobi because of the altitude of the city and the season, we were very anxious at the begining but a few days later we were looking only for the right mosquitos 🙂 First each mosquito was potentially a malaria transporter for us and it was a little annoying but we were told that the dangerous ones were quite big than the others. And even though there were no threat of malaria in Nairobi we always used our pills repellents to be on the safe side…

This is much cuter and a must in Nairobi

Karen Blixen House in Nairobi

We strongly suggest you to watch the movie “Out of Africa” before you go to Kenya. It is an amazing movie about Kenya and particularly the famous Danish writer and coffee farm owner Karen Blixen and seeing around the house in which the movie was shot was also amazing .The quite and calm environment around the Karen Blixen house take your fatigue away as the guide tells you stories about the house and Karen Blixen. In fact some of the furnitures were sold or taken to Denmark after she left Africa and we knew they were substitude but the house was restored and managed quite well that everything seems just like original and the guide in the house did her job quite well. We paid 13$ pp or something like that to enter the house and an extra 5$ for the guide so if you wonder whether it worths to go there or not, as to us it is a wonderful place in Nairobi to visit and see the past Kenyan life style.

The House is preserved well indeed and it is very calm around

Nairobi is a big city and you may run into many people who you wouldnt want them to be in front of you. Because of that booking a tour operator in Nairobi is a real must. The tour guide in Nairobi didn’t let us get off the 4×4 unless we passed the hotel’s protected gate like a castle. Of course nearly all hotels in Nairobi are protected with electrical wires on their very high garden walls. So we think that it seems important to book a safe and secure hotel in Nairobi or in any hotel in Kenya. By the way the hotel we booked in Nairobi was very beautiful and clean, we hadn’t really expected that.

Long time supporter, and thought I’d drop a comment.

Your wordpress site is very sleek – hope you don’t mind me asking
what theme you’re using? (and don’t mind if I steal it?
    :P)

I just launched my site –also built in wordpress like yours–
but the theme slows (!) the site down quite a bit.

In case you have a minute, you can find it by searching for “royal cbd”
on Google (would appreciate any feedback) – it’s still in the works.

Keep up the good work– and hope you all take care of yourself during the
    coronavirus scare!
